A brake controller as the name suggest is the device that controls the braking force on the trailers brakes. It does this by varying the voltage output based on how hard you apply the brakes in the vehicle. This is called proportional braking. The brake controller also allows the user to adjust braking force and apply manual override which applys trailer brakes only.

Elecbrakes is a trailer mounted electric brake controller. Unlike other brake controllers on the market, Elecbrakes doesnt need to be hard wired into your vehicle, it mounts to the trailers draw bar and connects with a plug and play adapter to the vehicles lighting circuits for its power. You can adjust the brakes on your trailer via the Elecbrakes app on your phone, or the optional remote.

How it works:

1. Mount the unit to the drawbar of your trailer.
2. Plug in the Elecbrakes lead into the unit and the ElecConnect adaptor.
3. Connect the ElecConnect adaptor to the car and trailer sockets.
4. Your electric brake controller is now ready to use with the default settings.
5. Access and adjust your brake controller settings on the phone app.
6. Use the remote or phone app for driver controlled changes.

Our Tap + Tow technology leverages the power of NFC (near field communication) that is embedded in most modern smartphones llowing for seamless device pairing, access to unit diagnostics and providing advanced troubleshooting capabilities all in the palm of your hand.

Use our Tap + Tow technology to download the app. Simply tap your phone to the Elecbrakes logo on your brake controller and download the app from the App Store or Play Store.
Once installed, open the app and select ‘add device’.

Important: When using a mobile phone ensure that it is mounted securely in a cradle.
